Cigicell re-awarded prepaid electricity contract by Cape Town
Cigicell, a subsidiary of JSE listed Blue Label Telecoms, has been re-awarded the contract to distribute prepaid electricity tokens on behalf of the City of Cape Town.
“We have been distributing prepaid electricity tokens on behalf of the City of Cape Town for the past five years. We are delighted to have been re-awarded the contract, which will commence on 1 September 2016,” says Alan Kodesh, CEO of Cigicell.
"Our new license gives us the ability to distribute prepaid electricity via electronic banking channels and formal and informal retail channels. We have also been awarded an exclusive license to distribute electricity tokens via our unique UniPIN voucher. Our increasingly popular UniPIN proprietary product continues to offer convenience for consumers in both offline and online retail and banking environments."
"Ultimately, the City of Cape Town customer benefits from being able to recharge their electricity meters conveniently and securely 24/7, via a wide range of channels which we offer”. "
"The City of Cape Town has the largest municipal footprint of prepaid electricity meters in South Africa. We are proud to continue working with the City to maintain and improve service delivery levels to their prepaid electricity customers," Kodesh adds.
